Exciting, messy, friendly and a lot of fun!

Who are Rainbows?

Rainbows are girls aged 5-7 who learn by doing – they get their hands dirty, do sports, arts and crafts and play games. Being a Rainbow is all about having the space to try new things. Through taking part in a range of different activities with girls their own age, Rainbows develop self-confidence and make lots of new friends.

The Programme

Rainbows learn and grow through a programme of age-appropriate activities, trips and adventures - both in their regular meetings and at special events. Meetings usually consist of a range of games, some colouring and a craft activity.

Badges and Awards

They can work towards interest badges, where they can learn about everything from recycling to storytelling, and start their skills builder journey, developing core skills and trying new things like camping, leadership and first aid.

There're even awards they can earn, like the Rainbow Gold award and the six Theme awards, that show their commitment and encourage pride in their achievements.

All badge requirements and space to record their progress are found in the Rainbow badge book.

What we have been doing....

Recently 1st Thurnby Rainbows have been working towards our Innovate Skill Builder badge. Skill Builders require us to complete 5 different activities on a specific theme.

Innovate Skill builders help us to develop our creative side with ideas, experiments and problem solving.

Here is a photo of us creating robots to take us into space.

To get involved...

All new enquiries are handled by Girlguiding through their website and referred onto local units so make sure you choose 1st or 2nd Thurnby.
