The 1st Thurnby Rainbows is made up of girls between 5 and 7 with help from their leaders. The unit started in 1991 and has been doing lots of fun things since then!
 |
The uniform consists of a pale blue t-shirt with red trousers and jacket, but when we started we all wore red tabards! |

The Rainbows are helped by their leaders,

and we also have Olivia, our mascot. |

We have Ready for Rainbows books for all the new Rainbows to introduce them to what we do and we give them a Welcome bag so they can keep their activities together to take home.
The Rainbow promise that the girls make at their enrolment is –
I promise that I will do my best, to love my God and to be kind and helpful.
The new girls have a Promise Party and receive their badge and certificate at the ceremony.
Our Programme is a Jigsaw! There are 4 main pieces,

During the year we also work on a roundabout badge which includes lots of activities from these areas. At the end we all get a badge. There are 3 different versions of the badge with red, blue or yellow edging. We choose which one we want to work towards. |
We do lots of different things at Rainbows, we make crafts, play mountains of games, have themed evenings, sing songs, do colouring in, sometimes we enjoy preparing and eating all sorts of foods and many other things as well!
| At the end of Rainbows there is a Pot of Gold. The girls who are leaving have a Pot of Gold Party and receive their badge, which can be sewn on their Brownie uniform, and a certificate. |
